#1 Old City, New Dreams // Launch event // October 14th 2009

Our launch event was in conjunction with The Dubliner Magazine, who bravely waded into the uncharted, diaper-filled sea of Chaos as part of their Old City, New Dreams series. The theme of the night was ‘Reinvention’, and our statement was a quote from The Wire, where Donette says to D’Angelo, “Don’t nobody give a damn about your story, boy. You got money, you get to be whatever you say you are.” Of course, we do care about your story, and we care a lot about the ones we heard from Dubliners Carol Keogh, Anna Carey and Dara Higgins, who all deserve medals for courage.

#2 Paranorma Panorana // November 17th 2009

Chaos November’s event celebrated all things otherworldly, hidey-seeky, and wetty-pantsy. Una Mullally was our fantastic, bar-raising curator, who told the sort of story that made all the work that goes into Chaos Thaoghaire every month, that made all the things we hoped our event would be come true.

The theme statement for the night was actually a choice between two: “Dead men tell no tales” and “When there’s no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the earth.” Unfortunately, we got the math wrong, so let’s just assume that there are dead men walking the earth, recounting some anecdotes, but avoiding a number of potentially controversial subjects. So click below for stories of ghost-hunting, anal-probing, alien-loving, eyeball-swapping, and house-blessing. Stop sending us your dry cleaning bills.

We warned you it would be scary. And anyway, what are you doing wearing fancy, dry-clean-only trousers, anyway? You told us you were poor.
